College Planning 2.0
Planning for college has changed a lot in the last 20-30 years. The costs have increased by unimaginable rates, but also competition is at an all-time high. Long gone are the days when you could count on getting accepted by a particular school with straight A’s. Not to mention, the value of a Bachelor’s degree isn’t the same as it was years ago. High paying careers are requiring more specialization and expertise which means post-graduate degrees are becoming more of a necessity in some fields. For these reasons and more, we have to look at college planning much more different than in the past.
The College Business
Families can expect to see at least a $100,000 for the cost of a four-year degree in today’s world, and that’s just for one kid! Many parents spend far more than they should for their children’s education. This is mainly due to faulty assumptions, limited information, or inaccurate advice from the institutions themselves. Learning how to avert expensive pitfalls, minimize your out-of-pocket costs, and increase your student’s eligibility for tuition discounts can determine when you retire or pay your house off. If you didn’t know already, higher education is a business. And colleges and universities have two prices, the informed price and the uninformed price. Which one will you pay?
